Four guys, one open mic, and a lot of Tom Petty.
The Detours started the way most good LA stories do, by accident. Frontman Brett Kohler was working the open mic circuit around the city when he caught a set at the Licorice Pizza record store on Ventura and watched a guitarist named Misha Molove tear the room apart. A conversation after the show turned into a jam session, the jam session turned into bassist Ryan Clure, and Ryan brought in drummer John Keyes not long after. By October 2024 the four of them had their first gig booked.

Since that first show the band has played the Whiskey A Go-Go, the Viper Room, and Hotel Ziggy in West Hollywood, building a sound that splits the difference between classic rock warmth and a rougher, alt country edge.
